We’re down to the final four in this year’s Europa League and the first legs of the semi-finals are tonight, with Tottenham playing host to Bodo/Glimt and Manchester United visiting Athletic Club.
23:58 CET – Well, what a week of European action that was, with the three tournaments’ semi-finals producing drama aplenty.
We’ll be back with a tracker on Saturday to bring you all the weekend’s domestic action from around Europe’s top leagues – see you then!
23:22 CET – In the Conference League, Djurgarden more than held their own against Chelsea but the Premier League side took their chance excellently to win 4-1, while Antony scored again as Real Betis secured a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina on home turf.
23:00 CET – That’s that for tonight’s Europa League action and it feels very much like the finalists are already set in stone with Manchester United taking a 3-0 lead back home with them and Tottenham travelling to Norway 3-1 up.
It looks like both Premier League clubs, who are enduring disastrous domestic seasons, will have the chance to end their campaigns with a big trophy and Champions League qualification. That being said, with the drama we’ve already seen in this competition this year, don’t fully rule out some sunning comebacks…
22:49 CET – Ulrik Saltnes has given Bodo/Glimt a glimmer of hope heading into their return leg, making it 3-1 in London.
22:28 CET – Dominic Solanke has scored from the spot to put Tottenham 3-0 up against Bodo/Glimt with an hour gone.
22:07 CET – Over in the Conference League, Real Betis are leading 1-0 while Chelsea are 2-0 up at the halfway point.
21:53 CET – We’re halfway through the first legs of both semi-finals, and it feels like both ties may be done and dusted already.
In London, Tottenham have completely dominated Bodo/Glimt and are two goals to the good, while Manchester United are three goals and a man up against Athletic Club.
21:48 CET – Bruno Fernandes makes it three! The Europa League final will be held at the stadium United are playing in tonight, and they can now start thinking about booking flights for a second trip to it.
21:42 CET – This is turning into a dream night for the English clubs, with Tottenham now 2-0 thanks to a lovely goal from James Maddison.
21:39 CET – It’s all gone wrong for Athletic! Dani Vivian has been sent off for pulling down Rasmus Hojlund in the box and Bruno Fernandes has converted the subsequent penalty to put the visitors 2-0 up.
21:33 CET – Manchester United lead! Casemiro headed the opener but all the credit has to go to Harry Maguire, who ended up with the ball on the right wing and channelled his inner Lamine Yamal to produce some lovely skill and swing in a perfect cross! Incredible from the centre-back!
21:22 CET – How is it still 0-0 in Bilbao?! The Spanish have come flying out of the blocks but none of their six efforts have found the back of the net yet. At this rate though, it’s just a matter of time.
21:08 CET – Tottenham make the dream start! Brennan Johnson has given them the lead after just 40 seconds!
20:56 CET – Right then, bring on the semi-finals!
While our main focus here will be the Europa League, there are of course two Conference League semis taking place too, and you can follow them at the links below:
Real Betis vs Fiorentina
Djurgarden vs Chelsea
20:25 CET – It’s fair to say the home fans have built quite the atmosphere in Bilbao!
The Spanish side have undoubtedly had a stronger season than Manchester United, and with home advantage too, they’ll fancy their chances of putting one foot in the final tonight.
20:03 CET – The lineups are in! With just under an hour to go until the matches kick off, we now know how the four sides will line up for their biggest games of the season thus far.
19:30 CET – Hello and welcome to Flashscore’s coverage of tonight’s football!
Our main focus will be the first legs of the Europa League semi-finals, which will see Athletic Club and Manchester United do battle in Bilbao while Tottenham host Bodo/Glimt in London.
United are in desperate need of a win, with this competition providing their last remaining chance to enjoy any kind of success this season and ensure they play European football again in the next one.
However, getting past Athletic Club will be a huge ask. The Spanish club have had an excellent campaign, which has seen them finish second in the league phase and knock out an excellent Roma side while sitting steady in fourth in LaLiga.
Like United, Tottenham are also in last chance saloon, languishing down in 16th in the Premier League. If Ange Postecoglou wants to keep his job, he simply has to end their 17-year trophy drought.
While they may be favourites against Bodo/Glimt though, the Norwegian side have fully earned their place in the semis as was clear in their quarter-final triumph over Lazio.
