The star helped Katie find the right fit for her family home
Katie Piper took to her Instagram to thank Alison Hammond after she celebrated her “longed for” family news as she welcomed a new addition into her home.
On Tuesday (22nd April), Alison headed over to Battersea Dogs and Cats home to meet yet another set of dogs on the hunt for their forever home.
She met with gentle giant Minnie, anxious Buddy who was struggling to settle into kennel life, and an adorable litter of Cockapoo pups who had been abandoned along with their mum.
The workers at Battersea called the mum Pisces, and named her puppies after other astrological signs – Scorpio, Gemini, Capricorn, Taurus, Aries, Libra and Aquarius.
As they completed all of the relevant health checks before they could be rehomed, Alison welcomed a surprise guest to come and visit the pups.
TV star Katie Piper paid a visit as she announced that her two daughters were desperate to have a dog in their home. Of course, Alison sat with her as she introduced her to the adorable brood.
Alison gave a warning as she said: “They’re not like this all the time, I’m going to be honest with you now. They’re being very well behaved right now.”
Katie revealed her first dog was a Battersea rescue when she was younger, and she eventually settled on taking home Capricorn – now renamed as Sugar.
Taking to her Instagram, Katie posted some behind the scenes snaps of her and Alison with Sugar as she wrote: “The story of SUGAR Piper. Tune into @officialfortheloveofdogs tonight on @itv to see our girls journey to arriving @battersea and coming home with us.
“Thank you @alisonhammond55 for helping us pick the right pup for our family and @janeyjanew and the amazing Battersea team for all you do for dogs and cats. She is final member of the family we have longed for for so long”.
Katie has previously posted some adorable picture of her family with the new addition. At the time of adoption she wrote: “We have expanded our family… Introducing Sugar. The girls have wanted a brother or sister for so long and we wanted to make this happen.
“… Now apologies in advance for all the puppy spam that is about to follow over the next few months” as the carousel post included various snaps of her cuddled up with Sugar.
