Don’t get us wrong – we don’t think there’s anything that will quite prepare you for the terror of Danny Boyle’s return to his zombie franchise, 28 Years Later (the teaser trailer reminded us of that fact). However, there is a way that you can give yourself a reminder of the saga’s plot, as the first film, 28 Days Later, is returning to theaters ahead of its upcoming sequel.
But you’re gong to have to act quick if you want that reminder – it’s only coming back for one night.
The news comes to us from the spooky folks over at Bloody Disgusting, who revealed that that one night in question is May 21. That’s a Wednesday, if you don’t have a calendar in front of you, and BD is sure to clarify that it’s only returning to select theaters across the United States. The showing is a special event through Cinemark, and you can find out if your local theater is taking part with this link.
But here’s the really exciting thing – this theatrical rerelease of the movie that started director Danny Boyle’s cinematic universe will also feature a special look into its future, and footage of the original film that wasn’t included in the first theatrical cut.
So check your local showings right now, zombie fans; an undead virus might last forever, but these tickets will be gone faster than a zombie can run.
And in this universe, remember, that’s fast.
