DWP, HMRC and Social Security Scotland payment date changes due to bank holiday next week


Full list of benefits including State Pension, PIP, Child Benefit and more, affected by bank holiday on May 26.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed changes to scheduled payments for people due money on Monday, May 26. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Social Security Scotland have also confirmed a revised timetable for benefit payments as a result of the Spring Bank Holiday.

Payments due on Monday, May 26 will arrive before this weekend, on Friday, May 23. The changes will affect people in receipt of the State Pension, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Universal Credit, Adult Disability Payment (ADP), Attendance Allowance, Child Benefit and other benefits.

DWP confirmed Jobcentres in Scotland, England and Wales, along with phone lines, will be closed on Monday, May 26, but will open as usual from Tuesday, May 27.

DWP explained: “To make sure people get their payment on a day when our offices are open, arrangements have been made to make some payments early. If the expected payment date is Monday 26 May then benefits will be paid early on Friday 23 May.

“If the expected payment date is not shown, customers will get their money on their usual payment date.”

Below is a full list of DWP, HMRC and Social Security Scotland payments which could be affected by the may bank holidays on Monday, May 26.

It’s important to be aware that if your upcoming payment does not fall on the bank holiday, it will be paid as normal.

DWP payment date changes

Payments due to be made on Monday, May 26 will be issued on Friday, May 23.

  • Carer’s Allowance
  • Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Pension Credit
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • State Pension
  • Universal Credit

HMRC payment date changes

Payments due to be made on Monday, May 26 will be issued on Friday, May 23.

Payments affected:

  • Child Benefit
  • Guardian’s Allowance

Social Security Scotland payment changes

Payments due to be made on Monday, May 26 will be issued on Friday, May 23.

Payments affected:

  • Adult Disability Payment
  • Child Disability Payment
  • Scottish Child Payment
  • Carer Support Payment
  • Pension Age Disability Payment

Social Security Scotland has confirmed that Best Start Foods payments will not be affected.
