Seth Rollins Suffers Injury, LA Knight Wins at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

After weeks of animosity, LA Knight defeated Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins in a grudge match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Rollins launched into a backflip off the ropes following a flying senton but landed awkwardly on his right knee, immediately collapsing and retreating to the corner near Paul Heyman.

As Knight tried to continue the match, Rollins raised his arm, prompting the referee to step in and hold Knight back. In a swift attempt to end it, Rollins struggled to his feet and Knight hit him with a BFT and secure the pin for the victory.

Rollins was assisted to the back by medical staff after suffering the knee injury.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider later reported Rollins’ injury was “legitimate” and that he was planned to win the match prior to the incident.

The issues between Rollins and Knight truly began at the Money in the Bank premium live event, which saw Rollins’ cronies Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed interfere during the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

Despite the interference, Knight was seemingly on the verge of securing the Money in the Bank contract, but Rollins stopped him and grabbed it himself, marking the second MITB victory of his career.

Coming out of Money in the Bank; Knight, Breakker and Reed all found themselves in separate first-round matches in the King of the Ring tournament.

On the June 9 episode of Raw, Knight interfered during Breakker’s Fatal 4-Way match against Sami Zayn, Dominik Mysterio and Penta, which prevented Bron from advancing.

Breakker and Reed returned the favor on the June 13 edition of SmackDown, costing Knight in his Fatal 4-Way KOTR match against Randy Orton, Aleister Black and Carmelo Hayes.

A few days later on the June 16 Raw, Knight was back at it again, interjecting himself into Reed’s Fatal 4-Way against Jey Uso, Sheamus and Rusev, which was ultimately won by Uso.

Knight and Reed faced each other in a match on SmackDown a few weeks later, which was interrupted by a Breakker spear on Knight. Reed then hit Knight with multiple Tsunamis, leaving him writhing in pain.

After missing about a week of action, Knight made a surprise return on the June 30 Raw. After Punk chased Rollins off into the crowd, Knight attacked Seth from behind and they brawled into the concourse before Rollins ran off.

The match between Rollins and Knight was made official for Saturday Night’s Main Event following that confrontation, and Knight went on to get the better of his rival in Atlanta.
