Puello and Matias comply with the rules: weigh-in passed

On Saturday, in the spectacular “The Ring III” card, Alberto Puello will face Subriel Matias. The Dominican will defend the WBC super lightweight world title.

  • Alberto “Avispa” Puello weighed in at 139.8 pounds.
  • Subriel “Orgullo de Maternillo” Matias weighed in at 140 pounds.

Alberto “Avispa” Puello.

The Dominican is the current WBC super lightweight champion, but this is not the his  Green and Gold title.

Two years after his debut in 2017, he won the WBC super lightweight Latin belt twice.

Puello continued to rack up victories until he earned a shot at the interim 140-pound title. Gary Russell was “Avispa’s” opponent, the fight went the full 12 rounds, and the Dominican emerged victorious.

That victory gave him the opportunity to fight for the world title against Spain’s Sandor Martin. The fight went the full 12 rounds, and Puello came away with the belt.

This will be his first defense.

Subriel “Pride of Maternillo” Matias.

The only two boxers who have been able to defeat Matias are Petros Ananyan and Liam Paro.

Subriel Matias has the enormous achievement of having finished all the fights he has won by knockout.

Although he has already been world champion, this will be the first time the Puerto Rican will seek a WBC-endorsed belt.

Puello has an undefeated record of 24 wins with 10 KOs.

Matias has a record of 22-2, with all of his victories coming by KO.
