Jon Jones has officially been removed from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) roster and fight fans are having a field day.
Jones, who is wrapped up in another legal issue outside of fighting, announced his retirement from the sport last weekend and put to rest a much-anticipated showdown with interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall (who is now the undisputed titleholder). The decision wasn’t completely out of left field, but it was still shocking to see “Bones” finally call it quits.
The news struck fight fans in various ways. Those who wanted to see Jones stripped of his UFC heavyweight title for ducking Aspinall were happy about it. The group who sees Jones as the greatest of all time were sad to see him go. Others were just bummed out they didn’t get to see one of the best heavyweight matchups in UFC history.
