Susanna Reid celebrates ITV star’s baby news on Good Morning Britain

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid was quick to congratulate one ITV star on their baby news.

Viewers of Good Morning Britain were treated to a delightful conversation on Tuesday as hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley welcomed ITV Love Islander Georgia Harrison to the show.

The co-presenters announced that the 30-year-old has made history by being the first former Love Island contestant to receive an MBE, featuring on this year’s King’s Birthday Honours list.

But prior to discussing her momentous award, Susanna couldn’t resist sharing Georgia’s personal joy.

She remarked: “Georgia joins us now. Very good morning to you. Congratulations, not just on the MBE but also on the fact that you are expecting a baby.

“You may turn up to the Palace to receive your award with a babe in arms, depending on when it’s given out.”

Georgia responded: “I may be able to tell my child one day that, actually, yeah, you did get to meet someone from the Royal Family, you were there, which would be amazing.”

The ex-Love Island star divulged that her due date is November 5 and detailed the likelihood of still being with child during the MBE ceremony, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Georgia was recognised for her significant work against violence towards women and girls.

Her notable efforts include contributing to the government’s Online Safety Act in 2023 following a personal incident where intimate videos were disseminated online by her former partner, leading to his 21-month incarceration.

Georgia spoke to the hosts of Good Morning Britain, revealing: “I became a victim of intimate image-based sexual abuse back in 2020. It was something that I decided to get rid of my anonymity on and take it to court.”

She continued her account by expressing: “I have one of the most popular revenge porn cases in the whole of the UK. Something that had a lot of media attention. Not only did I have to go to court and face my abuser, I also had to face the entire UK media, and it was a very public spectacle, which was really hard.”

Nevertheless, despite the challenges, Georgia reflected positively on the outcome, stating that the high profile of her case helped change UK legislation.

Towards the end of the conversation, Susanna lauded Georgia’s achievements, saying: “Good luck with the baby and huge congratulations, Georgia. You’ve had such a massive impact in this area.”

“To get the law changed, which is such a positive result for so many people out of something so devastating that happened to you, takes an enormous amount of strength, and it is hugely deserved. Congratulations.”

In a heartfelt revelation to her social media followers in April, Georgia disclosed that she and her partner, Jack Stacey, were expecting a child, sharing an adorable photo holding up an ultrasound scan whilst divulging they’d been holding onto their ‘secret’.

Good Morning Britain is available to watch on ITVX.
