Reports of an outage began at around 1.30pm today
Spotify has issued an update on connection issues experienced by thousands this afternoon after reports were made of a streaming glitch.
The popular music streaming service was down this afternoon for many customers, with thousands complaining about the app online.
Problems started at around 1.30pm today, May 27, with over 5,000 complaints being made per second at one point on Down Detector – an independent website which shows the Status of online services.
The complaints peaked at around 1.16pm, with 4,610 reports being made at this time. Complaints subsequently reduced but were still being made on the website over an hour later.
In an update on the issues, Spotify has said that recent issues “should be all clear now” and thanked customers for their patience – although it is still unclear what was causing the issues.
In a statement on social media, Spotify Status said: “We’re aware of some recent issues that should be all clear now! Thanks for your patience, you rock.”

Most of the complaints logged on the website – 90% – were about the app service, with the website and server connection also being reported as causing problems.
Certain customers took to the internet to complain about Spotify being offline earlier this afternoon.
Those affected posted on X (formerly Twitter), with one user named DB saying, “Spotify down again and this app still acting up.”
Another named Dylon added, “OF COURSE Spotify is down when I’m on my break.”
