Hollywood star Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the much-anticipated eighth instalment in the Mission Impossible franchise, has raked in ₹33 crores at the Indian box office in its first two days.
Notably, this is the highest opening for a Hollywood film in India this year, beating the Marvel superhero film Thunderbolts*, which earned ₹22 crores in its first two days of release.
According to Sacnilk, the film, which was released in India on Saturday (May 17), earned ₹16.5 crores on each day of the weekend. Interestingly, this is also far higher than what its predecessor in the franchise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, earned in the same period (₹21 crores).
Sacnilk’s report added that the English version of the film saw its highest overall occupancy on Sunday in Chennai, with a staggering 83 per cent, followed by Hyderabad, with 50.75 per cent.
The Final Reckoning, said to be the swan-song film for Cruise’s popular daredevil spy Ethan Hunt, reunites the actor with director Christopher McQuarrie. Produced by Paramount Pictures, the film also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, and Angela Bassett.
Having premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, the film released in India a week ahead of its May 23 release in the US.
