Sunderland have been sent a message of support from Man United star Amad Diallo ahead of their Championship play-off clash with Coventry City.
The Black Cats will look to take a step closer to promotion back to the Premier League when they host the Skys Blues at The Stadium of Light in the second leg of their semi-final clash on Tuesday night (13 May).
Sunderland claimed a 2-1 win at the CBS Arena in the first leg back on Friday (9 May), meaning they are in control of the tie heading into this game.
It also appears as though they will have some high profile backing in that tie, judging by the latest social media activity from Man United winger Amad.
Amad Diallo shows his love for former club
The Ivorian international is no stranger to the Black Cats having spent the 2022/23 season on loan at the Stadium of Light, helping them secure a place in the Championship play-offs during that campaign.
Football Insider even revealed last season that Amad had been keen to return to Sunderland on loan from Man United, although no deal materialised.

Even so the winger clearly still has a strong connection with the club, as highlighted by their latest Instagram interaction.

Ahead of that clash with Coventry, the Black Cats took to Instagram to share highlights from a 2-1 win over Luton Town in the play-offs on the same day two years ago.
Amad opened the scoring for Sunderland in that game with a brilliant free kick, and the Man United winger shared that post to his story, captioning it with a loving eyes emoji to show his backing for them.
Success against Coventry would ensure Regis Le Bris’ side face Sheffield United in the final after their 6-0 aggregate victory over Bristol City.

With just a one-goal margin, there is no denying that this tie is still there to be won at the Stadium of Light.
But with the backing of their home crowd behind them along with that lead, the Black Cats will still feel they are in a strong position here.
Indeed, Sunderland have already introduced some intriguing tactics to nullify the threat of Coventry, and it will be interesting to see if they provide an advantage as well.
Should that prove to be the case, the chance for them to come up against such a talented former player as Amad in the Premier League next season if they come through the final is a fascinating prospect.
Fans would have loved the winger to be lining up for the Black Cats for a big occasion like this, but they can surely take pride in the role their club played in propelling him to stardom with Man United.
