Van Dijk responds to Jarell Quansah’s message amid Liverpool transfer twist

Virgil van Dijk was among the Liverpool players to react to Jarell Quansah’s message following fresh speculation about his future at the club.

Liverpool officially sealed the Premier League title on 27 April after a dominant 5-1 win over Tottenham, with four matches still left to play.

Quansah, however, was an unused substitute in that match — a role he’s often found himself in this season. The 22-year-old has made just two Premier League starts throughout the campaign, prompting growing uncertainty about his long-term prospects at Anfield.

Newcastle have shown interest in the defender, but in a surprising twist, Merseyside rivals Everton have also expressed admiration for Quansah. The idea of a potential move across Stanley Park has added an unexpected layer to his situation.

Despite the constant rumours, Quansah shared a positive message with supporters after the title win, expressing his pride in being part of the squad and celebrating the club’s achievement.

Liverpool want to keep Jarell Quansah amid Newcastle and Everton interest

The defender posted on Instagram after Liverpool were confirmed as Premier League champions, sharing a message that read: “What a club. What a result. What a moment, Premier League Champions.”

His post received plenty of support from teammates, with club captain Van Dijk replying with a red heart emoji and Darwin Nunez also showing his appreciation by liking the post.

Despite the strong sense of unity within the squad, speculation about Quansah’s future has intensified. Mick Brown, former Manchester United chief scout, told Football Insider that Quansah is keen on a move to Newcastle this summer in pursuit of more regular game time.

However, Liverpool are reluctant to let the centre-back leave. He is under contract until 2029 and holds home-grown status, which adds significant value to his place in the squad.

With ongoing reports linking Trent Alexander-Arnold with a potential move to Real Madrid, losing Quansah as well could leave Liverpool short of home-grown talent. A key requirement in the Premier League squad rules.

Liverpool target Dean Huijsen as defensive reshuffle begins

While Quansah’s future remains uncertain, the Reds appear to be actively exploring defensive reinforcements.

Football Insider revealed that Liverpool are in the race to sign Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen but face competition from Chelsea, Newcastle and Arsenal.

It’s understood that the Anfield hierarchy are ready to back manager Arne Slot in the transfer market, and securing a deal for Huijsen could represent a major signal of intent ahead of the new campaign to sustain momentum.
