Harry Clark has revealed why he turned down huge six-figure sums for to appear on I’m A Celebrity and Celebrity Big Brother. The 23-year-old winner of BBC series The Traitors has said that he has had some whopping offers to appear on some of the biggest reality shows on TV but since winning £120,000, he has decided to head to another show.

Being crowned champion of The Traitors has propelled Harry to fame and led to him signing with a top talent agent. This, in turn, has led to some big offers coming in with a reported £300,000 offered to get him into the Big Brother house.

Instead of taking these offers, Harry has signed up for BBC’s Pilgrimage as he said that this “meant so much” and wanted his career to be authentic.

Speaking about the choices he has made, Harry said: “I think it was just because it meant so much to me that I wanted to do this show. It was just me as a whole, and when my manager brought it to me, it was like, again, this whole career that we’re trying to carve out in this industry is one of authenticity.”

Harry, who is a practising Catholic, added: “It’s like, I want it to be authentic to me, and what means the most to me, and that’s religion, and that’s my family. Also I know it made my mum proud. But also for me personally, I knew that my religion itself had got a little bit cloudy.”

Continuing about his spirituality, Harry said: “It was always strong faith. I was always still praying, but then I never really knew… It’s easy to go off the rails a little bit and see, well, what am I even actually praying for?

“The pilgrimage was that sort of wipe where it made it a clear vision again.”

The Pilgrimage will follow celebrities, including Jeff Brazier and Helen Lederer, will walk from Austria to Switzerland. Harry believes that this will be a chance to show a real side of his personality rather than the devious one he had to show in winning The Traitors.

He said: “I’ll always be in debt to The Traitors because it catapulted me into a completely different life I never knew I could have. But the show didn’t change me at all – I was already devious. I didn’t have to do anything different for The Traitors.

“I never saw series one, so I turned up, and this is why I always say I think I won, because I went in there with such true intention. I turned up to be a Traitor to win £120,000 – I had a one in 22 chance and I thought they were good odds.”

Harry finished by saying: “On Pilgrimage, you will see me, and you will see why I won the show – because I was just open and honest about myself.”
